Winter Workout Motivation

Got those winter workout blues? How to get around them? It’s hard when its dull and cold outside, right? True, but let’s use nature to our advantage. Step outside, take in a breath of crisp air, feel the refreshing coolness on your winter-dried skin, and hear the birds (they are still chirping). Now, you are feeling it. Time to pack on some thermal leggings, workout jacket, ear muffs, and hiking boots. Grab a thermos, and you are off. Whether you take a wooded hike, cross country ski, or have a paved bike path, just get out there. Listen to the sound of nature or pop in your earbuds for your favorite motivating tunes. You will be warmed up and energetic in snow time! Outdoors not an option? Open the curtains, let some natural light in. Pull up some tranquil wave sounds on your favorite music streaming app, and do some meditative yoga or pilates and imagine yourself on a tropical beach. When all else fails, pull up that picture of what you want to be. Now, make it happen. Blast your rocking tunes, and pump it out with weights. You will be sweating, just as if you were actually sitting on a 90 degree beach! Keep this up, and within days, you will find yourself in a new routine, and winter will no longer be your foe, but rather the challenge you accept and overcome!
